Wokker is a Houston-based eatery that blends together the traditional flavors of Asian dishes with Texas BBQ and other Southern comfort foods. In 2021, Wokker sought to elevate its branding as they expanded from their successful food truck model to brick-and-mortars across Houston. As part of Primer Grey, I led the efforts to update their branding by introducing a color palette, typefaces, and patterns that could speak to their sense of humor and both the East and West influences of their dishes. Most importantly, they had built some brand equity with a cowboy cat illustration that was updated with a fresher illustration style. And while they didn’t want to change their primary logo, modifications were made to address their new expanded venture. The entire visual identity, along with messaging, became a confluence of traditional Asian motifs and Texas slang, giving the brand a path to truly showcase its fusion cuisine.
