Bread Man Baking Co. is a full-scale bakery in Houston, Texas, founded by Tasos Katsaounis.
In 2020, Tasos sought to elevate his brand to better represent his Greek roots and the bakery’s traditional approach to baking bread. Before, the BMBC brand lacked direction and (pun intended) felt stale. As part of Primer Grey, I led the efforts to develop a new brand for BMBC. The first thing considered was color, which took inspiration from the Greek flag and the Greek coastal town of Aigio where Tasos grew up. For the brand identity, wheat textures and a handwritten feel were incorporated to tie back to the art of handcrafted bread. Old family photos of the Katsaounis family and a custom-designed Greek pattern (with hidden B’s and M’s) give authentic life to the brand and provide a strong story for Tasos to differentiate BMBC in a heavily crowded market.
